Dr. Oette is a lecturer in law at SOAS,
University of London (www.soas.ac.uk) and
Counsel for REDRESS, an international non-governmental human rights
organisation seeking justice and reparation for torture survivors (www.redress.org). He is the co-author of a
textbook (together with Ilias Bantekas), International
Human Rights Law and Practice, published by Cambridge University Press in
2013. Dr. Oette has also published widely on the prohibition of torture and the
right to reparation in international law, as well as on law, human rights and
justice in the Sudan. He is responsible for a project on criminal law reform in
Sudan (www.pclrs.org) and edited Criminal Law Reform and Transitional
Justice: Human Rights Perspectives for Sudan, published by Ashgate in 2011.
