Islam Awareness Week

The Muslim Student Association is hosting Islam Awareness Week with a photo exhibit in Kalmanovitz Hall and several other opportunities to learn about the religion of Islam.

Islam 101

Tuesday | 11:45 a.m. | Cowell Hall 107

At this Event Alauddin Al-Bakri will give a brief lecture on how Islam is not just a religion, but also a way of life. This is geared towards the part of the USF community who has little to no knowledge about Islam.

Black Muslims: History and Achievements

Wednesday | 7:00 p.m. | Maier Room, Fromm Hall

At this event, Usama Canon will talk about one of the largest community of Muslims-African Americans. Many people do not know the legacy of Islam in Black history and their contributions to Muslim society.

My Jihad

Thursday | 7:00 p.m. | UC 402/403

At this event, Zahra Billoo will be discussing the new campaign by CAIR about Jihad and what it means to Muslims. She will be addressing the misconceptions around the world and how it actually is a part of Muslim’s every day lives.

Jummah Under the Sun

Friday | 1:30 p.m. | UC 4th Floor Lounge

This is the Friday prayer that will be held outside with Munir Qtaish giving the sermon. We are adding something new this year—after the prayer will be screening a movie and having lunch and allow everyone to socialize.
