Frank C. Newman International Human Rights Law Clinic Reports:

Accounts from the United Nations Meetings in New York and Geneva


Professor Connie de la Vega and clinic students will present information on the International Human Rights Clinic’s activities this year. The presentation will feature the meetings in New York of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW58) and the Human Rights Council (HRC25) in Geneva, Switzerland.


Work of the Clinic at the CSW included increasing the political participation of women, combating trafficking and addressing the economic empowerment of women in order to achieve UN millennium development goals. The HRC work focused on the right to housing, the right to vote, food sovereignty, E-waste, the death penalty and promoting cultural rights through heritage laws.


Law students participating in the Clinic will also provide accounts of their experiences. Law student presenters will include: Areej Alharbi, Greg Caso, Bridget Engle, Kendall Kozai, Ray Popal, Blake Theo Porter, Ankit Prakash, Lauren Schweizer, Robin Sheehan and Catherine Tran.
