Himalayan Studies Film Series Part 1
Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 | 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cowell Hall, Room 316

Come join us for an exploration into the cultural world of the Himalayas!
This film series looks into different facets of Himalayan cultures and religions by showcasing how ordinary Tibetan monks attempt to walk a fine line between their cultural expectations and individual aspirations, how contemporary incarnate lamas speak of their own experiences and challenges as Buddhist cultural embodiments, and how Tibetan youth in diaspora imagine their homeland and struggle to find their own Identities.

There will be three films shown throughout the semester- "The Cup," (2/20/14) "Tulku," (3/20/14) and "Dreaming Lhasa" (5/1/14)- each followed by a Q&A session with Prof. Tsering Wangchuk.

This event is sponsored by the Theology and Religious Studies Department. For more information please contact Prof. Tsering Wangchuk at twangchuk@usfca.edu.
