Distinguished Professor Charles R. Lawrence will join us for a presentation to the law school community on March 14.  His topic focuses on the social-political construction of race and social identity under law and in legal institutional life, through the lens of Omi and Winant’s Racial Formation Theory.  He will examine subtle demands for assimilation and silence around race in legal academia, and what you can do about it.  A discussion about the processes and politics of racial and other social identity construction in law and legal education will follow.
