Women or men, black or white, gay or straight, immigrant or native-born ̶ everyone has biases. This important topic’s first session features two leaders in the field of diversity and inclusion who will dialogue and facilitate frank discussions, with the goal of helping participants build and incorporate personal strategies to minimize bias in the workplace. Using real-life examples, practical tips and activities, the facilitators will guide participants on a journey of intellectual awareness, self-discovery and individual change.

Our Facilitators:
Dr. Sondra Thiederman is one of the nation's leading experts on workplace diversity and is the author of several books, including Making Diversity Work: 7 Steps for Defeating Bias in the Workplace. She has helped Fortune 500 companies, public sector organizations and educational institutions find ways to successfully navigate our increasingly diverse workplaces.

Steve Hanamura is an inspiring speaker, author and organizational consultant who has helped public and private institutions build cohesive teams and relationships through understanding and collaboration. Blind since birth, Mr. Hanamura challenges audiences to look at things beyond their purview, bringing new insights and wisdom to the diversity and inclusion dialogue.
