"Why Good People do Bad Things: Solving the Problem of the Disconnect Between What is Said and Done"

This session will consider two ways to think about the causes of misconduct in organizations: the prevailing view and an alternative perspective. Dr. Meaney will focus on the alternative perspective in a consideration of how senior leaders in corporations are addressing the issue of ethical culture.

Bio: Mark Meaney is Systemwide Director of Ethics and Compliance with the Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services (ECAS) at the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP). Dr. Meaney is an ethics and compliance professional with more than fifteen years of experience in program development and implementation in diverse sectors. He has extensive history in working with senior executives and Boards of public companies in the design and implementation of corporate compliance and ethics programs. He has published widely on ethics and compliance in professional and popular media, including the book, A Guide to Professional Development in Compliance. Dr. Meaney also drafted the Code of Professional Ethics for Compliance and Ethic Professionals.
