In “On Site,” San Jose-based Mitra Fabian presents a site-responsive installation for the Gallery using discarded microfilm provided by the Gleeson Library. Fabian uses atypical materials such as tape, glue and various office and scientific products. As she builds, she transforms the materials in ways that make them not immediately recognizable. Fabian has been showing her work nationally since 1997, including the Museum of Contemporary Craft, the Laguna Art Museum, and the Armory Center for the Arts. She is currently a professor at West Valley College in Saratoga, California.
"On Site" is on display in the Thacher Gallery from Mar. 17 to Apr. 16.
Located in the Gleeson Library, the Mary and Carter Thacher Gallery at USF is free and open to the public during regular library hours.
