Jeremy Howard is a Distinguished Research Scientist at the University of San Francisco, as well as an affiliate of and adviser to its Master of Science in Analytics (MSAN) program. He will be giving a series of lectures on analytics related topics to our MSAN students which are also open to the USF community.
Jeremy is well-known for his previous role as President and Chief Scientist of the data science platform Kaggle. He received top rankings in internationally-competitive data science competitions in 2010 and 2011. Jeremy has also served as founding CEO of two self-funded Australian startups, FastMail and Optimal Decisions Group, that continue to operate successfully. The World Economic Forum has recognized him as a "Young Global Leader" for these achievements.
Jeremy also has eight years of experience in management consulting at some of the world's most well-known firms in that industry, including McKinsey & Co. and AT Kearney, where he became the youngest engagement manager in the company's history and built a new global practice in what is now called "Big Data." A lifelong learner, Jeremy has developed a new system for learning Chinese and has contributed to a range of open source projects as a developer. He regularly provides business commentary in various media outlets.
